    Title: Osiander's Relapse.

    I Quoth:

Martin Chemnitz remarks: "I frequently shudder, because Luther -- I do not know by what kind of presentiment -- in his commentaries on the Letter to the Galatians and on the First Book of Moses so often repeats the statement: 'This doctrine [of justification] will be obscured again after my death.'

Andrew Osiander was the first to fulfil Luther's prophecy. In 1549 he began publicly to propound a doctrine in which he abandoned the forensic conception of justification by imputation of the merits of Christ, and returned to the Roman view of justification by infusion i.e., by infusion of the eternal essential righteousness of the divine nature of Christ.

    (The End of the Quothation)

I wish I could ask Osiander, how dare you trash the pillar of the Reformation, the doctrine of Justification that Martin Luther so courageously fought for?

Osiander's "reported" response to my question is: "Now that the lion is dead, I shall easily dispose of the foxes and hares"

What a sad case is Osiander, and this illustrates the critical importance of understanding that the only legitimate use of "infusion" is to describe how tea is made.

    Dear Rob:

Just wanted to drop you a line and get some feedback on a new book concept.

Everyone has read and loves C. S. Lewis' Narnia books, but they're so mired in the Judeo-Christian mindset. I was considering rewriting them from a more green and spiritually holistic standpoint.

For starters, LWW needs to be freed from the atonement myth. In the end the lion and the White Witch could come to a meeting of the minds. I envision a scene where they take tea together at the stone table. Al Gore is transported to Narnia to act as a mediator. In the end, Aslan doesn't bring the kids to Narnia to prevent any human carbon footprint in a pristine primitive society. Gore also convinces the witch to use her turn-into-stone magic as a means of trash recycling.

If the first book takes off, this could lead to other rewrites and maybe even a movie deal. Of course the main goal would be to dare people to throw of their intellectual shackles.

Let me know what you think. I'm also open to collaboration.

As to a title, what about "A New Kind of Narnia"?

    Yours,
    Brian

  4. @Persis -- I think they tried to do that with the new movies. As always, you have the best comment, but I'm still going to post one!
