Old Ad from Otis Clutterbuck

Thanks for sending this old ad in the Calvinistic Cartoons, Mr. Clutterbuck! We love vintage advertising. It's a part of our history. In his email, Otis wrote, "This came from Century Magazine in the year 1888. I thought you might find it very interesting. Please let agent BC look at it soon."

Fan Photo from Laura Lynne Hardy

Ms. Hardy discovered this old photo in an old bookstore ran by an old woman who lives in Oldsmobile, North Carolina. Many thanks for sharing this with our readers. Expect a check for $7,000 to arrive in a few days. We pay big bucks for vintage photos featuring Corky Velveeta. Great billboard ad! (click to enlarge)

Thanks to Marsha Mallow for sending this magazine from September 1949. It is literally as old as I am. Interesting stories and articles in this issue I must say.

Fan Photo from Fenwick Fielding

Wow! What a find! Fenwick Fielding the First, who purchased this from an old Arminian pastor living in Black Gnat, Kentucky, was gracious enough to send us this picture. This old photograph shows Charles Finney and his three deacons, Bingo, Waawee, and KooKoo, as they prepare for their tent revival in upper New York. Mr. Fielding plans on selling this rare photo to Benny Finney, a distant relative of Charles Finney, in the near future. If not, then says Fenwick, "...it'll be goin' to Mr. eBay or Mr. Craig's List!"

Corky asked me to post these pages from his personal photo album.

As you know, a click on the pic will make it bigger.

Corky Ad Contest Entry #11

This 1931 ad for the Canadian Pacific wins Manny Crierton an entry in the seven million dollar grand prize. I really love this contest because I see vintage ads featuring Corky Velveeta I never knew existed!

Vintage Ad 1927

Many thanks and 7 grand to Granny Davis for sending in this 1927 ad. Story goes, when Corky saw this ad in the newspaper, he took the Chrysler executive to court and had this automobile taken off the market. Thus, saving the lives of many Calvinists who might be walking in front of one of these contraptions. The Velveeta vs Chrysler case in well documented - but not on Google for some odd reason.

Shorpy - Bringing Past to Present

Philadelphia circa 1909. "Girard Trust Company."
8x10 inch dry plate glass negative, Detroit Publishing Company

Shorpy is a great site for viewing vintage photos. If you want a real sense of history visit this blog often. I love studying the faces of the many individuals who have passed from this life into the next. (see if you can spot two special people in the photo above)
