Bingo! That's the problem with a "liberal" (I don't meant that in a political sense only, though that connotation is included) mindset...if anything goes, everything goes. Just today I was thinking of the old Steve Taylor tune that goes "humanist philosophy is what it's all about, you're so open minded that your brain leaked out."
I've just come back from a fraught evening of "Christian" nonsense, extolling the virtues of all having our own experiences of God and all equally valid, who's to say what's right, blah blah. One (mature Christian, highly educated) said everyone he's ever met is looking for God in some way... Needless to say the "bug screen" of Is53:6, Rom3:11 and Jn6:44 did not go down well! And as for my doctrine of Repentance screen...! So, back to the fellowship of CC!
Fortunately, the Scripture screen allows humor to get through. After all, it was Solomon who said laughter is the best medicine. Or something like that.
Bug-> "You can figure out when the Lord is coming again."
Screen-> And he said unto them, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." (Acts 1:7) -----------------------------
Bug-> "The New Testament spoke of the prophet Jesus, who was the forerunner of God's final prophet who was to come."
Screen-> "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds" (Hebrews 1:1-2) ----------------------------- Bug-> "Other religions have a measure of truth, and God will save their followers if they honestly live their lives according to the light that they have."
Screen-> "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
Stranger, you should do a post with a truck load of examples on your blog...then post a link here. Not that I mind, far from it, but it would be like our own Panama Canal!
SCREEN: ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
