The Sovereign Shepherd

Have you ever noticed how many times John 10:9 is used, where Jesus said, "I am the door (or "gate") whoever enters through me will be saved."...and John 10:7 seems to be skipped over? This first mention qualifies the second mention - verse 7 states, "I tell you the truth, I am the door for the sheep." (emphasis mine)

  1. Most professing Christians have a hard time with the sovereignty of God but scripture is clear, God is running the show. Deaf sheep do not belong to God. If God chooses to unclog their ears or not, that's His business according to His own good pleasure.

John 8:47 (New King James Version)
He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Genesis 18:25 (New King James Version)
That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

  2. They do this naturally because they are goats who are terribly independent are barely controllable(about as well as herding cats) by Goat Herders.

Sheep flock to and are lead by their Shepherds! They know, trust, and are comforted by their Shepherd's voice because he has taken care of their ultimate needs!
