  1. Man on the left: Detective Jones...that wasn't here before, was it?

Detective Jones: No, it wasn't, Detective Reed. Apparently, the Kalvinist Killer is the perpetrator of this crime...

Well, that wasn't particularly funny. Oh well. :-D

  2. I paid good money for that picture, and you say it is not by DaVinci? How do you know?

  3. "It appears to be a man in a hand grenade costume; but for the life of me, I don't understand the significance of what is printed on it."

    "You're an Arminian, aren't you."

"In the back stretch - SamWise, who isn't even IN this race, moves into the lead - as stranger.strange.land falls three lengths back. Truthinator is in third place and about to pass stranger.strange.land.

Now into the clubhouse turn - ConstitutionGirl is starting to make her move and is quickly gaining on the pack - Joel the Immerser is two lengths behind her in fifth place - followed by Jansie, WHO IS BEING RIDDEN BY A DEACON, and Gregg who are running neck and neck.

  9. "Sir, why else would you hang this picture on your wall? You must be Corky Velveeta!...or his father."

  10. A few years ago we had an art show at our church. One of the exhibits had a picture of a hand grenade with Romans 9 written on it, and lots of people found it very compelling. But not everyone did. Someone walked up and said, "Reality check, Romans 9 is about nations." Romans 9 is about nations? Really? And someone knows this for sure, and felt the need to inform the rest of us about it?"

And yet, that's the subtle message that gets taught to millions of people again and again: Pharaoh was a nation. Esau was a nation. Jacob was a nation. And Rebekah must have been really tired after giving birth to two entire nations. Not to mention Pharaoh's poor mother.

But the Good News is much better than that. The Good News is more beautiful than what Arminians have told you. The Good News is that Romans 9 is about both individuals and nations. The Good News is that - in the end - God's Sovereignty WINS.

  14. You see? What did I tell you? Where does she get this stuff? I married her because she was a Baptist. How could I have known that some Baptists are reformed?

  15. Haha! He's got a point, a lot of Baptists are more Calvinist witch-hunters. (I say that because I know some of them...)
