Finney Makes History

15 comments:

  1. "Benny Finney" that is classic! Is this a morphism of my two favorite loons in Benny Hinn and Charles Finney? I am still undecided on which of these two have done the most harm to the evangelical church? Then we have our beloved Billy Graham to think of as well. Keep the great posts coming brother! Your blog is a treat on this cold winter days.

  2. Darn! I was really getting into those two articles at the fold.

    Definitely Finney, hands down.

  3. I definitely agree with Mr.Boyd. I heard a quote by a wonderful Calvinist Paul Washer, and he said something like "Those people who follow Benny Hinn are not victims of Benny Hinn, God is using Benny Hinn to judge them." Not a quote. I think Finney has done 100 times more damage than Hinn-at least most people see Hinn as the con artist he is! -and Finney is lifted up as a hero. either way, deception is judgment, but I think many more people have been decieved by Finney than by Hinn. Finney is the underground, permeating infection that has influenced all of us to a degree. But Hinn---all he does is give Christianity a bad name to those who believe that he is one!
    So much for speechifying. ;)

  4. Ditto Craig and CG.

I roared with laughter the first time I read about "Benny Finny".

While I'm commenting I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate you, Eddie, on breaking the 250 member mark. Hopefully you'll catch up to Pyromaniacs one day!

Yep. You get two loons for the price of one.

  7. Did the bride groom find Monica?

How do I extend my congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Dunderdale?

Les, those are questions I think we are ALL anxious to find the answers to. If Eddie could just flip the paper over so we can see the articles continued below the fold...

...But knowing Eddie, he is more likely to turn it into a post and make US finish the stories.

  9. stranger...the paper is called "Good News - America's Optimistic Newspaper" so I believe Monica will be found and all will have a happy ending. (dunno, just guessin')

  11. Thanks, Eddie. I had adopted the Puffin-Cat picture to remind me to not take myself too seriously. But a friend pointed out that looking at myself in the mirror, or reading my own material would just as easily accomplish the same purpose.

    What exactly is the Puffin-Cat?

Puffincat's papa was a puffin, his mama was a cat. He works as a cook on a Soviet ship.

Puffincat cartoons are on youtube. The animation is delightfully primitive; the narration (with Russian accent) is clever. The stories have themes that spoof the old Soviet Union.

They are not for children, but I can only remember one scene where I considered the drawing to be in poor taste.

The Puffincat cartoons are produced by a group in Ireland called "The Diet of Worms."

So, that is exactly what the "Puffin-cat" is.

I expected that it would be the last thing you expected. In fact, I expect that the only thing even less expected would have been the Spanish Inquisition; because, as we all know,......
