This is old news, but new to me. I haven't seen this posted anywhere but, then again, I usually don't know what's going on half the time anyway. The June issue (2009) of Reader's Digest on pages 158 and 159 feature an informative article where you will find Spurgeon mentioned! The cover to that issue is shown above. It's worth reading if you have a moment.Click on "find Spurgeon" and you will be taken there.
"that's the thing about fame-it can be fleeting."
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Well, in some circles the name of Spurgeon is still an everyday word.
Thanks for the encouragement...I think.
I don't agree with the writer's statement either! Most Christian's have, at least, heard of Spurgeon. Spurgeon is one of the most quoted authors, living or dead. I would venture to say, every educated protestant preacher has quoted him. He is mentioned on the internet on a daily basis. It's the unbeliever that doesn't know who he is.
ReplyDelete...oh yeah, all of his works are still in print, and sell on a daily basis. His "Morning and Evening" is still a best selling devotional.
