This is a photo of Willie Lumpkin being interviewed by me for the role of the Romans 9 grenade. This was a long process, with many disappointed hopefuls. The auditions lasted for a good six weeks before we chose Corky Velveeta. We decided not to use Mr. Lumpkin because of his fear of flying, his fear of driving and his fear of walking. Willie went on to become a stunt man for Larry King.
And all this time, I really thought that Larry King hitched up his own suspenders.
ReplyDeleteI smiled when I read this cartoon because it confirmed my suspicion and hope that you're the same Eddie Eddings whose spot illos I enjoyed in old 'zines like TCR and RBCC. Who else would mention Willie Lumpkin but a comic book buff?? I especially rejoiced to read that you're a fellow believer saved by grace. I will be checking back to this site, already added to my favorites. May the Lord continue to bless you, brother, and your ministry. Pressing on in Christ . . . Gary Peterson, Omaha, NE
ReplyDeleteWow! You found me out, Gary! Did you know that Kerry Gammill and Jim Engel were also believers? I would love to find others who were active in fandom, way back when, who have been transformed by the grace of God. Thanks brother, stay in touch!
