  1. Okay, I recognize the lovable and cuddly Theodore Beza on the left; but who is that on the right?

Pilgrim Mommy, can you help me out here?

  2. If I remember my Chipmunk trivia, the other rodent is Guillaume Farel. However, his agent thought most people would pronounce his first name as "Julaumee". They considered different names like Chauncey, Octavius, and Montmorency but then settled on the more pronounceable name of Simon.

I had both Chipmunk Christmas albums as a child. Wasn't there a song "All I want for Christmas are the Institutes"?

  3. @Pilgrim Mommy

I can confirm that Farel was indeed called "a rodent" by the Geneva city council, about the time that he and Calvin were expelled.

Right, you are, Pilgrim Mommy. Did you have the "extended version" of the album, where Luther's Ninety-Five Theses were put into verse, and sung to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas?

  4. Your research is impeccable. There was also a song entitled, "Have Yourself a Calvinistic Christmas".
