In this scene from the quirky production of the movie "LUTHER", Alan Ladd plays the reformer as he helps his fiance, Katharina von Bora, escape from the convent, where she has been held captive and fed a diet consisting solely of bread pudding.
The editors had cut the scene which showed the diet that Luther had been fed, fearing that theaters might experience a drastic loss of revenue from snack bar sales.
...yeah, those updated versions of the reformers are getting quite popular at the Sundance Film Festival. I hear they are doing an modern day version of the life of John Calvin starring Keanu Reeves. In this film, Anthony Hopkins plays the Eiffel Tower.
In the prequel to The Blues Brothers. We see a flesh back to "the Penguin's" earlier darker days.
