  2. The irony is that Spurgeon had a tremendously popular church. However, I certainly agree with him on this. I've noticed that churches are popular either because they are doing things very right or because they are doing things very wrong. Too many churches who are doing things wrong are deluded by their apparent success. And just because a church does things very right, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will be very popular. The little unpopular churches that still do things right regardless are beautiful gems in the crown of God's glory.

  3. I don't think Oprah would have liked Spurgeon's preaching in the Metropolitan Tabernacle.
