FREE! Get a Load of the Authors!

Another quality eBook from Chapel Library. Articles in this edition of the FGB include:
The Most Remarkable Event, by Arthur W. Pink (1886-1952):
the death of Jesus Christ is unique in every aspect, from its eternal plan to its historical fulfillment. It successfully accomplished eternal life for all of God's people.
The Eternal Council of God, by John Gill (1697-1771):
Before the world began, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit purposed an infinitely wise way to save sinners. We cannot properly understand Christ's saving work apart from it.
The Intent of Christ’s Death, by John Owen (1616-1683):
a helpful explanation of what God planned and accomplished in the death of Jesus Christ. This gives us clear insight into Christ's successful sacrifice for sinners.
Our Need for Atonement, by J. C. Ryle (1816-1900):
a penetrating examination of why men cannot save themselves and why they desperately need Christ.
The Nature of Christ’s Death, by William S. Plumer (1802-1880):
this exposition describes the nature and intent of Christ's death by defining and discussing the biblical terms ransom, substitution, propitiation, surety, and reconciliation.
Christ’s Priestly Action, by Hugh Martin (1822-1885):
was Christ's death merely a passive acceptance of God's wrath or was it a powerful priestly action of sacrifice? This insightful investigation powerfully answers that question.
Christ’s Propitiation, by John Murray (1898-1975):
a concise and clear study that helps us understand the difference between propitiation and expiation.

Old Cartoon from Leadership Magazine

In the 1980's and 90's I was doing a lot of free-lance cartooning for various Christian magazines. This was printed in 1988 in Leadership, a magazine primarily for pastors. I don't know if I have posted this before or not. After 3,719 posts my mind gets a little fuzzy.

Oh, how sweet, Rick and the Pope meet.
What ever happened to the Reformation?

Fan Photo from Anna Sassin

After reading Joel Garner's comment on the death of Benny Finney, I decided with my free will to send you this photo of his gravestone. I am an Arminian who belonged to the Sola Bootstrapa church when Benny, Elvis and Nigel were there. I now attend the Wild at Heart Church on the Rocks Fellowship in Gunga Din, Mississippi.

Dear Eddie and Corky,
I found this old Polaroid photograph in an old trunk that belonged to my dad. There was a note taped to the back that read, "Went to a press conference today and met a young man named Corky Velveeta. We talked for less than twenty minutes, but he really got me thinking about God and the Bible. He gave me a book by A. W. Pink on the Sovereignty of God. I started reading it when I got home. I can't put it down. It is changing my perspective on everything!"
     Blessings,
     Rita Story

Why is it that...

Why is it that...Christian films have a few professional actors but will inevitably use amateurs who look like they know they are being directed? You know, the "actors" who appear mindless and say their lines with a blank stare...
...while Hollywood, when depicting a Biblical theme, always throw in a lot of really stupid nonsense.
I'm hoping Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings won't include aliens.

FREE BOOK! It's True!

A stirring defense of the faith by one of Christianity's ablest defenders. Dr. John Montgomery, scholar, theologian and apologist for the faith, developed this book from a seminar he presented at the University of British Columbia. Readable and convincing, the book is divided into four sections:
Section One deals with four basic errors usually committed by those who attack the historicity of the New Testament.
Section Two defends the accuracy of the New Testament documents, using tests which are commonly applied to any ancient document.
Section Three, entitled "God Closes In," is a powerful defense of the truly divine and truly human nature of Christ.
Section Four clearly shows that if Jesus were not the Son of God, the only other alternatives are either liar or lunatic.
The book includes the transcript of a panel discussion in which Dr. Montgomery convincingly argues from the above four points to demonstrate their application for the reader. Here is excellent material for class discussion or individual study, particularly suited to helping young people combat humanistic concepts of the Bible and Christianity.
This edition also contains Dr. Montgomery's essay "Christianity Juridically Defended.
